Unexpected Visitor

Unexpected visitor: a bird

Drops in to her field of vision

Alighting just beyond the impenetrable window

Pecking daintily at snowcovered grass tips

Piercing frozen tundra of bleak carbon copied days

Harbinger of hope on a grey February morning.

Bright eyes, diminutive rust-hued breast

Pull enraptured gaze

Capture solemn attention.

Stilled before lift-off,

Frozen moment memorized.

Bird flits, gracefully through razor wire fence

Beauty, flying free.
