As a Matter of Fact

I could grovel

bloody my kneecaps

on the ground glass gravel

at the feet of your high horse

exsanguinate my soul

supplicating droplets

as I plead for your mercy

forgiveness

compassion

my knees bare scars

of prior beseechings

today I stride erect

clear of eye and soul

begging no more

I could slay you

well versed

in the dark arts

of rhetorical evisceration

I could skewer you

on the bleak- whetted

rapier

of my justifiable rage

slicing you

to blithering ribbons

of steadfast judgment

willful disregard

today I sheath

my wordsmithed sword

weary of bloodbaths

bathed in interminable battle

I stand here

bethorned by mistakes

missteps

miscalculations

unadorned with pretense

unabashed

in the visceral eloquence

of my new-skinned self

you may never

acknowledge my pain

forgive my trespasses

walk into a re-birthed future

I, however,

am

Wolf in the Family Trees

I have felt the razored barbs

of your teeth before

as they gnawed

on my soft underbelly

rolled upward toward you

in trust

I have heard the steely

bone on bone

gnashing

as you snarled

beneath a sheeps-clad

grin

I have seen the blazing

possession in red

a glare casting

me, roughly

aside

I have scented out

the rank heat

exhaled through your

flaring nostrils

as you went for

my jugular

I have tasted the hemlock

on my lips

when I absurdly asked

if you remain

lupine

Breath and Bone Writing Prompt Challenge: Bones that Breathe/Aurora Phoenix

My entry for braveandreckless” “I am More than breath and bones” writing challenge

Brave & Reckless

fetally curled

cold

on the concrete floor

I am devolving

gelatinous mass

of aborted malformed

futures

puddled

reeking of whimpering

helpless abandonment

as flesh of my humanity

sloughs from my bones

flutter of my waxing

tachycardia

is the invisible beat

of hummingbird wings

hover-sipping

succulent nectar

in bejeweled flashes

shivering

in the arctic blast

penetrating blizzard

of condemnation

blinded by ruthless

howling villainy

my bronchi spasm

as breath lixiviates

in lengthening gasps

from my blue

asp-bitten lips

death-rattle of my slowed

quickening

is the imperceptible trickle

of mountain snowmelt

icy pristine

inexorably

fomenting spring

my breath calcifies

in a stertorous

torque

while lilies Monet

blue-green o’er

primordial ooze

my bones exhale

anguish of fractured

millennia

as a prism

of downy flocks float

on a balmy zephyr

in tenebrous moments

when my soul

hovers on the precipice

of its extinction

the universe

exhorts

drops ultimata

in every crisp

desiccated

falling leaf

Waterways

she had plummeted

swept under

Acheron’s raging currents

drowning in the depths

she stagnated

in foul brackish pools

toxins pervading every pore

she slithered

on scaled snakebelly

from immersion in noxious lagoon

crawled through mud and muck

briar patch scratched

stench of her debasement

malodorous effluvium

perpetual leaching

skin and soul

keening for renewal

she stumbled upon

crystalline pools

burbling

springs of amnesty

stripped to the bone

she tiptoed trepidatious

into waters of absolution

parched dermis

quenched in soothing amity

reconstitutes

whole

she stands erect

poised

to dive again

into rivers of life

Warrior Weary

this breastplate

ironclad cover o’er

ferociously beating

scarred and mending heart

grows burdensome

weighting my wending ways

my shield

hammered protector

fending off thrusts

of javelin or sword

forged in blood and tears

curtails lacerations

bows burdened shoulders

this sword

forged in fires

of smelted self

brandishes fortitude

in mortal offensives

wards off assaults

strains tender limbs

I long to lay down

my nicked chainmail

dented armor

lighten heavy heart

saunter undefended

bare of foot and limb

lift my face to the sun

forward through my days

Phlegethon

it started a whispering trickle

faintest rustle of a wind-tossed

death fraught crispy leaf

blowing loose a notion

faltering

crunchy gusted start

her words dripped

bloodied tears

upon pages

ripped stillborn

from dynamic life

under chinooks’ tutelage

words breathed

reconstituted essence

burning meaning

scorched upon each leaf

the stream gathered speed

enlivened by whirling gales

fed by tributaries

unleashed fomentation

tongues of flames

crept from cautious banks

leapt amidst swirling verbiage

the fiery monologue

tangoed with cyclones

incinerating convention

surged up waterfalls

word river now raging

torrent irreversibly unleashed

tumultuous fire-water cocktail

the landscape is revived

Introducing Aurora Phoenix – ‘The Uprising’

I am immensely honored to have this piece featured on Sudden Denouement today. Check out all of their immensely talented writing.

Sudden Denouement Collective

there is a primal roar

building within her

founded on the

atoms of dirt

scrounged by grappling-hooked toes

scavenging salvation

from precipice’s

teetering edge

as they curled

in orgasmic throes

of borrowed ecstasy

the rumble surges

up exasperated tendons

above scabbed knees

upon which they forced her

failed to keep her

despite repeated bloody

bludgeonings

the portending implosion

reverberates cataclysmic

through hallowed

and maligned walls

of her invaded

as yet unvanquished

vagina

the latent blast

rises roiling

beyond belly churning

beset with tormented butterflies

swallowed under duress

with teaspoonfuls of shame

taking her medicine

the gathering blast

trembles with the

accumulated heartaches

of feminine generations

spasms aortically

spurting crimson

crushed inequities

the impending cosmic levitation

upends flustered follicles

as lightening

bolts of righteous rage

flash incendiary shafts

from eyes and lips and tongue

the lacerating howl

tears her asunder

unleashes her tether

to a byzantine past

shreds constraints

denudes her…

When Demons Come Out to Play

our demons cavort madly

shadowed in the slatted

streaming moonlit haze

sweat-drenched and howling

they grapple uproariously

embraced in contortions

with themselves

each other

us

showdown to the finish

slip-sliding feverish

tear-stained

toward oblivion

horns locked

forked tails entwining

in the skirmish

scaled skin flakes

softens in the grinding

your fear upon my dread

my worry against your angst

your careworn imp

gets lost deep inside

my weary resigned rogue

heated and ravishing

we engage our hellions

soul to soul

breathless battling

until we both succumb

annihilating culmination

monsters quieted

devils shed and glowing

torment released

ceased

held skin to skin

warmed in blurred radiance

Bared, Shattered, Mosaicked

long ago

I lost track

how often

I spoke my truth

cringing

as I watched

you shrink from me

slink away

cowardly tail

between

swaggering legs

reducing

my bared soul

to scattered shards

smithereened

against the ice cold

hardness

of your heart

sobbing

I swept

glistening fragments

purples, reds and turquoises

of my vibrant self

strewn reckless

in the dust

fuming spit and vinegar

I glued them

those glittering

bits of me

haphazard

precious

psychic gems

I know now

your stalking retreat

mirrors not

my truest colors

mosaic of time warped

space and remnants

your hasty abandon

reflects

images

avoided

along your own

hard beaten path
